REVIEW

INTRODUCTION
This series has been around for awhile now. Starting on Genesis going to 3DO then to the PS and now PS2. The new versions of it are called Tiger Woods and in my oppinion aren't as good as the oringinal. PGA Tour '96 was made for the PS and the Saturn(I think for the Sat). In case you didn't know it is a golf game. The 3DO has a ton of golf games and you may be thinking this is just your average run of the mill FMV golf game(like the World Cup games). Well you're right it pretty much is only that the graphics for the courses look more real(they are actual golf courses in real life but they actually look "real"). The golfers look about the same as always only there is no caddie. The one thing I have always hated about golf games is the putting. It is near impossible to make it on your first shot unless you are already fairly close. It just seems impossible. And hole-in-ones, good luck there are only about 2 courses where this is possible(but it's still ALMOST impossible). The one golf game I did like a lot was Hot Shots golf for PS, but even in that game putting was hard.

GRAPHICS:7/10
These are your average golf game graphics for 3DO. FMV generated image for your golfer of a real golfer. And animated background(I guess). The golfer looks pretty good. You can see clearly their facial expressions. All of them is generally clear and not grainy. Now a lot of the backgrounds are pretty grainy in some areas and just don't look nice and smooth like in some of the other 3DO golf games. But overall it is pretty good.

SOUNDS:6/10
The begginning of PGA TOUR music is crystal clear and very elegant. I liked it a lot actually how it sounded. There is no real in game music though. Well except for the occassional bird chirp and smash of the club. Oh and let's not forget the horrible sounding announcer. That is some of the worst quality sounding voice I've ever heard.

CONTROL:5/10
I don't like golf games with all of those gauges and crap. I hate it because it's impossible to have a good shot a lot. I might only have a good shot per two holes and thats it. Aiming is tough too when you have to take in account wind and then when you screw up and don't push the button when the dial things in the middle you miss completely where you wanted to go. And putting?! Wow don't get me started I absolutely hate it. I'll do awesome to get there just so I can take 3 shots or more on the greens. It is just ridicules sometimes how hard it is to tell where it slopes and everything. I was disappointed. But even Hot Shots golf it is hard to putt.

GAMEPLAY-5/10
This is just like I said before with the control. It is just very very frustrating. The control makes the gameplay this way. The domino effect if you will. Here's how PGA TOUR goes. First you select your player and skill level. Then you select if you want to do a round or tournament. Then you select one of three golf courses, choosing either the front, back, or all holes. Then you wait a long time while you get an overview of all of the courses and then you finally get to see your golfer and the silent course. You will see a round gauge type blue thing, with red at the top with an arrow and a yellow section towards the bottom. You then press 'C' and a little marker starts moving. The farther to the top you get it the farther your shot goes and then the faster the marker goes when it moves back to the bottom. On drives you generally want to get the marker as high as you can. But on putts and shorter shots not as far but you have to look at the farthest you can hit with your club in hand along with how far it is to the hole. For instance, if the club you have, has a farthest distance of 90 yds. and to the hole is 45 yds. then you want to get the marker right in the middle. Then when the marker comes back down you have to press 'C' right in the middle of the yellow to have a straight shot. This all sounds complicated and it isn't really but it's just really hard to do because the marker moves pretty fast on the way back down. Gameplay would be better if there was such a long load time. Some of the load times in this game are ridiculusly long. Most of them are just flat out annoying. Everytime you swing your club the game has to load. Usually not just a couple seconds either. Putt the ball 2 inches, and guess what? The game has to load yet again! This really is a lag and sure didn't keep me interested in watching and playing the game since I was watching it load most of the time. I don't know I just wasn't kept interested enough through out the game.

OVERALL: 5/10
I was a little dissappointed. I don't really like golf though. This game would only appeal to golf buffs, but you never know you might like slow moving games that load every ten seconds! ;) Still it's worth say 5 bucks to play through a round once, even if you never play it again. Just remember to dust it off now and then so it doesn't get your other games dirty ;)!
