REVIEW

INTRODUCTION

Bust-A-Move is a popular arcade game which has been ported to almost every system from Super NES on. Heck even the Game Boy and Game Gear have BAM. So 3DO couldn't go without this arcade classic and it seems to have made a great conversion over to the 3DO without missing a note. In case you have never played BAM it is a puzzle game. In it you are two little dinosaur creatures who shoot bubbles at others of the same color to try and free them. Your job is to line up each bubble and fire it, once you get three of them touching it disappears. Anything hanging freely on the 3 bubbles that disappeared goes with it. Once you've played it you'll know what I am talking about. I have played this game on countless systems. First at the arcade, then on Super Nes, then N64, next Playstation, and then finally Game Gear. The Game Gear version is almost identical except for a couple of options that were left out. The graphics and sound are pretty bad but the 3DO BAM is quite superior. Game Gears versions had the exact same first levels but the control was hard so I could only get to level 25 or so. 3DO has much better control.

GRAPHICS-7/10
Nothing spectacular, just a bunch of brightly colored bubbles and backgrounds. The graphics aren't really what this game is about though.

SOUNDS-7/10
The music is all right, usually its pretty good. The "Ready....GO!" just sounds grainy so, but the GG version is a lot worse. Again nothing spectacular although some of the music is good.

CONTROL-8/10
The control I think has a lot to do with graphics. Yeah, I really think it does if you think about it. Game Gear the pointer that directed the bubble was really jagged. 3DO' pointer is a lot easier to tell where it is going. GG version is just torture because it is so hard to be precise. But there is really nothing but moving the pointer and hitting "A" so it isn't that complicated.

GAMEPLAY-9/10
This is a really fun game to play! But the thing I like best is the amount of levels. In the first game there are 100 levels!! Another great thing is that it saves your game for you after you die so you dont have to start all the way over after dying. There are also 3 other games. One you can challenge a record, which is just a continuous assault of bubbles. Another game is where you play against the computer, and finally there is a two player, human vs. human. This is one of the funnest parts is when you play against a pal. This game is great because of how fun it is and how much variety there is, game wise.

OVERALL FINAL SCORE-8/10
A very solid title that you will not be disappointed with if you get it for 8 or less dollars. I own 3 BAM's, one for PS another for GG and my newest for 3DO. I seem to like the 3DO version the best. The PS is BAM2 but I just like the fact that you can save at any time when you die. It is as fun as the arcade only now you play one fee. So pay that fee and get yourself a friend and this great game!
